About
Nexticorn
First initiated in 2015 as a collaborative effort involving Indonesia's Ministry of CIT, the Association of VCs and Startups in Indonesia (AMVESINDO), and Ernst and Young, the Nexticorn Foundation has evolved into the country's leading umbrella advocacy organization for the tech, startup, and VC industry.
Milestone
The government of Indonesia, assisted by Ernst & Young, arranged the meet-up between profoundly curated 5 Indonesia's most promising series A startups (Traveloka, Tokopedia, Gojek, Matahari, Kaskus) with some of the world's most prominent investors in Silicon Valley (Sir Michael Moritz of Sequoia Capital, Mary Meeker of KPCB, Yuri Milner of DST Global, Kyle Doherty of Coatue Management and Ted Ullyot of Andreessen Horowitz)
The Indonesia-Japan Nexticorn Digital Meetup is jointly organized by Indonesia's Ministry of ICT, JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization), AMVESINDO (the Association of VCs and Startups in Indonesia), and Ernst & Young. The event aimed to highlight the strong startup investment potential in Indonesia by showcasing Indonesia's growth-stage startups and facilitating connections with leading Japanese investors.
The Second Nexticorn Summit, "Digital Paradise Weekend," was organized as a continuity of the successful first Nexticorn Summit earlier that year to expedite the investment process by providing investors from around the world with Indonesian startups to facilitate their path to becoming unicorns.
In 2019, the Nexticorn Foundation was formally established as an independent entity with the objective of continuously promoting the growth of the next Indonesia's Unicorn. The Foundation's commitment goes beyond linking growth-stage startups with investors; it also entails exploring further potential avenues of support.
Themed "Discover Indonesia's Most Investable Startups," aimed to showcase the top-tier Indonesian tech startups that are poised for substantial growth and investment. This event sought to connect these high-potential startups with global investors, fostering a dynamic environment for networking, investment, and strategic partnerships.
The Fourth Nexticorn Summit, titled "Unleashing Web3 Potential: Transforming Indonesia's Digital Economy," is a three-day event with a Web3 startup competition and exhibition, alongside the conference and matchmaking sessions. The summit featured high-level government officials from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, prominent Web3 industry experts, and other prominent figures in the VC startup ecosystem as speakers at the conference.
Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Indonesia's NEXTICORN program. The agreement aims to support Indonesian startups in becoming unicorns by providing financial investments and fostering innovation. This collaboration is part of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and Indonesia's goal to advance its digital economy.
In 2023, Nexticorn collaborated with Indonesia's Ministry of ICT to jointly organize the summit named HUB.ID Summit x Nexticorn 2023 "Indonesia's Tech Investment: Moving Forward,." This public-private sector collaboration expands the reach of the summit to encompass a broader range of attendees by connecting early-stage startups to later-stage startups with established global investors.
